Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has opened up on his side’s struggles to score as freely as their title rivals in the league.
The Brazilians remain locked in a Betway Premiership title race with Orlando Pirates, who have been far more prolific.
Pirates boast a +39 goal difference compared to Sundowns’ +31, meaning the log leaders could lose top spot if the teams finish level on points.
Sundowns again managed just a 1-0 win over Polokwane City in their latest outing.
However, Cardoso insists the margin of victory is irrelevant, stressing that scoring one goal more than the opponent is all that matters to secure three points.
“I don’t want to speak about the goals that other teams score,” said Cardoso.
“What is important for us is that we score one more than our opponents, and we’ve been doing that quite consistently.
“We made two draws, but before we won 11 matches in a row, no one should forget we broke the record of the league.
“So, we need to be strong and strong, and strong, committed, and play every match with a focus on the result, and the result is always one goal more than the opponent, and that’s what we have to, we can control.”
