Global sports brand PUMA and Borussia Dortmund have on Friday launched the club’s new home kit for the 2026/27 campaign.
The German Bundesliga giants made the announcement via a statement.

“The kit’s defining feature is a bold graphic pattern referencing two of Dortmund’s most iconic landmarks: the Minister Stein colliery, marking 40 years since its closure, and the Dortmunder U, celebrating its centenary this year. Together they represent a city that has always transformed itself – taking the raw materials of its past and forging something new. It is a story that runs through the club’s identity as deeply as it runs through the city itself.
“The classic BVB yellow is brought to life with a sophisticated structural pattern, referencing the architectural lines and industrial forms of the colliery and the city skyline that surrounds it. Old elements are reimagined and history is worn with pride. The result is one of the most distinctive kits in the club’s recent memory – unmistakably BVB.
“To launch the kit, PUMA and BVB have created something entirely new: an AI-generated world Built Like Dortmund – featuring elements of the city and the club reimagined into a futuristic visual landscape. A real-world set, built to echo that world’s industrial aesthetic and brought to life with the players, connects the AI world, the new kit, and BVB’s identity into one unified vision.
“The launch weekend runs from 7th to 9th May, beginning with an exclusive reveal event for 300 guests hosted at the iconic Kokerei Hansa, where a spectacular light-mapping show will illuminate the historic industrial building. On 8th May, the kit makes its first on-pitch appearance as BVB wear it in the final home match of the season. On 9th May, the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK itself becomes the stage as media and influencers take to the pitch in the new shirt for a 15- versus-15 match; a once-in-a-lifetime football experience in one of the world’s greatest stadiums.”

Maria Kiebacher, PUMA Director Product Line Management Teamsport Apparel, had this to say:
“BVB is different, and this kit reflects that Dortmund is a city built on steel and ambition, and everything about this design – the pattern, the story, the campaign – honours that PUMA and BVB have created something that goes beyond a kit launch. It is a celebration of a city, a club, and a fanbase unlike any other in football. “
Managing Director of BVB Merchandising Kerstin Zerbe, added saying:
“This jersey embodies Dortmund – the city’s landmarks, history and constant change are reflected in its design. When our players step onto the pitch wearing it, they represent not only BVB and Dortmund but also stand for tradition and transformation.
“Capturing a feeling like this in a design is never easy. But we worked closely with PUMA to do exactly that and to give our fans a true piece of Dortmund.”
“As with all PUMA kits, the design is matched by cutting-edge technical innovation. The
Authentic jersey, features PUMA’s ULTRAWEAVE fabric, the brand’s ultra-lightweight
performance material precision-woven for unrestricted movement and distraction-free
performance, alongside dryCELL and ThermoAdapt technologies to manage sweat and
regulate heat. The Replica jersey pairs the same match-worn look with a casual silhouette and is made with RE:FIBRE technology – 95% recycled polyester sourced from textile waste, delivering the same bold design with sustainability at its core.”
The 26/27 BVB home kit has already gone on sale and is available from 8 May at PUMA.com, PUMA Retail stores, Totalsports, JD Sports, Sportsmans Warehouse, Studio 88 and Takealot.
