Nedbank Cup champions Durban City are on the verge of appointing former Kaizer Chiefs tactician Khalil Ben Youssef as their new head coach.
iDiski Times understands that Durban City management met with Ben Youssef earlier this week to discuss the vacant head coaching role, and an official offer has since been tabled.
The Nedbank Cup winners reportedly had a short list of candidates that included former Cape Town City mentor Eric Tinkler and FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo head coach Guy Bukasa.
The final decision now rests with Ben Youssef on whether he will accept the terms. The Tunisian tactician is well-acquainted with South African football, having spent the last two seasons in the country, first as an assistant to Nasreddine Nabi, and later stepping up as co-coach alongside Cédric Kaze at Amakhosi.
Having secured a top-eight finish in their debut top-flight campaign, the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit will be expected to push for even greater heights next season as they look to mount a strong defence of their Nedbank Cup title.
