Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo sent records tumbling with his first-half brace against Uzbekistan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.

The 41-year-old netted his country’s first and third goal, while Nuno Mendes scored the goal sandwiched in between in a rousing 45 minutes.

Ronaldo’s opener inside six minutes saw him become the first ever men’s player to score in six different World Cup tournaments.

Overall, it was his ninth goal in World Cup history, equalling his country’s record set by Eusebio. However, it didn’t take him long to also break the Eusebio record as he later netted his 10th World Cup goal after 39 minutes.

At the age of 41 years and 138 days, Ronaldo also become the second-oldest scorer at the tournament, only beaten by Cameroon legend Roger Milla who scored at the age of 42 years and 39 days at the tournament in 1994.

His brace, though, saw him become the oldest player to score multiple goals in a World Cup match.
