Cape Town City have secured the services of Bolivia international defender Marcelo Suárez ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Suárez, 23, has been linked with moves to South Africa in the past is set to join from Bolivian giants Club Always Ready – where he’s been a key figure playing as a left centre-back and full-back.
He’s been capped 15 times by the senior national team and arrives with extensive club experience from the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores competitions.
iDiski Times understands he agreed to join City before the end of last season and is set to arrive before the start of the new campaign with City restructuring their squad under new head coach Andries Ulderink.
The club has parted ways with Sifiso Ngobeni and Njabulo Ngcobo in defence and Suárez is set to fill that void – and look to potentially establish himself in the club’s youthful set-up.
Jaedin Rhodes has already departed for a transfer to Austria with SV Ried after their failure to win promotion to the top-flight, while Gabriel Amato and Emile Witbooi are strongly being linked with exits.
