Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi was fired by Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic on Saturday after an explicit video allegedly involving the Tunisian appeared online, with the Mzoughi citing he was the target of an extortion attempt.
Mzoughi had linked up with former Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi after he replaced Fadlu Davids at Raja, but was now dismissed less than two weeks later, as first reported by Farpost.
However, after an explicit video allegedly Mzoughi appeared online, the club immediately opted to part ways with the former Chiefs goalkeeper coach.
Mzoughi himself denies all allegations and revealed he has been blackmailed over an AI-fabricated video, sharing the following statement on the situation with iDiski Times.
“Four years ago, I was the target of an extortion attempt. Individuals threatened to publish what I maintain is a fabricated video created using Artificial Intelligence (Al) and demanded approximately USD 20,000 in exchange for not releasing it. I refused to give in to this blackmail or any form of intimidation.
“Yesterday, four years later, that video-which I maintain is fabricated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) — was published in an attempt to damage my reputation, tarnish my image, and harm my professional career.
I categorically reject all false allegations associated with this video.
“I have already initiated legal proceedings and will pursue legal action against everyone involved in attempting to extort me, as well as anyone who published, republished, promoted, or knowingly contributed to spreading this content.
“I will not give up my rights and will continue to pursue this case until the truth is fully established and justice is served. I respectfully ask everyone not to spread rumors or share unverified content, and to respect the truth and the legal process.
“I sincerely thank everyone who has stood by me and supported me during this difficult time. I pray that the truth will prevail and that justice will be done. GOD IS SUFFICIENT FOR ME, AND HE IS THE BEST DISPOSER OF ALL AFFAIRS.”
Mzoughi was at Chiefs for two years and was largely praised for his work with the goalkeeping department, especially after the revival of Brandon Petersen’s form in 2025/26.
However, the club opted to part ways with him following the previous campaign, as new coach Fernando Da Cruz opted to bring his own backroom staff. Mzoughi then briefly worked with the Burkina Faso national team during their recent international friendlies against Russia and Belarus.
The well-travelled Tunisian is no stranger to international football, having worked with Mauritania in a dual role while at Amakhosi over two seasons.
