The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ordered DRC giants AS Vita Club to pay Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou more than €600,000 (just under R12 million) after ruling that his contract was terminated unlawfully.
Ouaddou was relieved off his duties at Vita in January 2024 before filing his complaint in November of the same year.

According to HESPRESS English – Morocco News, the tribunal found that Ouaddou’s dismissal at Vita was without cause with the club now being ordered to pay what’s due to the Moroccan tactician.
The legal dispute has now been put to bed, and should Vita not comply with the ruling, certain disciplinary measures could be enforced.
Here’s a breakdown of the monies owed to Ouaddou:
- outstanding salaries and contractual bonuses – €157,000
- travel expense reimbursement – €1,977.00
- unjustified termination of contract – €453,250
After just nine months at the helm of Vita, Ouaddou opted to walk away from his job due to alleged severe logistical problems and unpaid wages.
His exit from Congo led to him joining Betway Premiership outfit Marumo Gallants before his surprise switch to Orlando Pirates where he won a domestic treble in his debut campaign at the club.
