Young Africans SC have officially confirmed the signing of Namibia international Peter Shalulile, ending a chase that had gathered pace throughout the off-season.
The Tanzanian giants broke the news themselves, sharing a celebratory announcement on their social media channels declaring Shalulile — hailed as one of Africa’s finest strikers — now belongs to the Wananchi.

Shalulile arrives in Dar es Salaam as a free agent after officially parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of June, closing out a six-year spell at Chloorkop in which he scored 136 goals in all competitions and became one of the most feared strikers in South African football history. That run included multiple Premiership titles, domestic cup honours, and Sundowns’ historic CAF Champions League triumph.
The move reunites the 32-year-old with Yanga head coach Manqoba Mngqithi, who worked with Shalulile during his time in South Africa — a familiarity widely seen as a key factor in persuading the striker to choose Tanzania over rival interest from Simba SC, as well as suitors from Zimbabwe, Egypt, and the Middle East.
Yanga’s attack had been left short after the departure of Zimbabwean forward Prince Dube, and Shalulile’s arrival gives the reigning Mainland Premier League champions a proven, prolific focal point as they target another CAF Champions League campaign this season.
