Stellenbosch FC have secured the services of highly-rated defender Surprise Nhlabathi from Baroka FC ahead of their 2026/27 season opener.
The 20-year-old centre-back has signed a two-year deal with an option to extend, adding to what appears to be a depleted defence at the club – who lost Thabo Moloisane, Henri Stanic and Athenkosi Mcaba in the off-season.

Mosa Lebusa leads the defence as the senior statesman, while they added further experience with the loan signing of Terrence Mashego.
iDiski Times can confirm the deal has been finalised with the player who is formerly of the Mpumalanga School of Excellence and Tammy Tigers / TUT viewed as a real prospect for the future.
Nhlabathi is capable of playing in defence and midfield and joins as a free agent after Baroka lost their professional status – having suffered relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.
