Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz says he hopes his players continue to build on their understanding of the style of play he has introduced since taking charge.
Da Cruz took over at Amakhosi during the off-season, replacing Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, who served as co-coaches last season.
The French mentor enjoyed a full pre-season with Chiefs, wrapping it up with a Toyota Cup glory after a 1-0 victory over Scottland FC at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
His side carried that momentum into the new Betway Premiership campaign, opening with an impressive 3-1 win over Kruger United at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
The performance earned widespread praise as Chiefs collected all three points.
Reflecting on the past two games, Da Cruz said the work put in on the training ground is becoming evident on the pitch, with his game model increasingly well understood by the squad.
“I implemented works, for sure, and a game model also,” said Da Cruz after the match against Kruger United.
“For the moment, the players like this game model and like also working hard every day with us.
“I hope that it will continue, but I know also that it’s not the end of the world. It’s only two games [that we have played] and the season will be long and we have a lot of work.”
