Simba SC head coach Steve Barker is embracing their hard-earned away victory in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg.
Barker’s charges narrowly beat Mighty Wanderers away from home to take a huge 1-0 advantage into the second leg.
Anicet Oura netted the only goal of the match in the 68th minute to give the Reds of Msimbazi the edge ahead of the deciding leg on Sunday.
Barker admitted that coming away with a win on the road is a daunting task, one they will enjoy as they look to wrap up the tie at home.
“I think one mustn’t take anything for granted,” Barker said.
“An away win on the continent is massive, so whether you win by one goal, it’s not easy to come away playing a good team.
“They deserve to be in the Champions League.
“A difficult pitch obviously, intimidating, a big crowd behind them, so it’s not about difficulty and scoring more goals.
“It’s important that we got the away goal and that we got the win.”
