Former Bafana Bafana Head of Performance Analysis Sinesipho Mali has opened a can of worms with suggestions he’s yet to receive his 2026 FIFA World Cup bonus while adding that he doesn’t own the home and away national team jerseys.
Mali left his Bafana role in July after serving for four years.
Mali made headlines in the FIFA World Cup after South Africa beat South Korea in the group stages by 1-0 to qualify for the knockout stages for the very first time in history.
This was after South Africans expressed their unhappiness from Bafana Bafana’s approach in their opening game against co-hosts Mexico which they lost 2-0.
The former Kaizer Chiefs scout allowed emotions to get the better of him as he reacted on what football fans said to him citing things even worse as the people emotionally abused him.
On Sunday morning, Mali took to X to reply to a verified post that reported that 40 SAFA NEC members each received honoraria of R150, 000 this month after confirmation that Bafana players had not been paid their World Cup bonuses.
“I went to the World Cup (qualified with the team). I have no Bafana Bafana jersey 🥹 (both home and away),” Mali said.
“I have not received my bonus (contractual obligation)
“No explanation. We receive the news like everybody else (public statements but no letter or message about our bonuses).”
Mali has since joined Betway Premiership club AmaZulu FC as Head of Football Strategy.
