Official: Former Pirates Coach Departs After AFCON Failure

Former Orlando Pirates coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has departed his role as head coach of Uganda the Uganda Football Association confirmed.

The Cranes had missed out on qualifying for next year’s AFCON despite a 2-0 win over Niger, with Tanzania and Algeria booking their tickets.

A draw between Tanzania and Algeria on the final day of the qualifiers saw the Taifa Stars finish on eight points in Group F, one more than third-placed Uganda, while Algeria finished atop with 16 points.

As a consequence, FUFA opted to part ways with Micho.

“FUFA and Mr. Milutin Sredojevic agreed to mutually end the existing employment contract between the two parties,” a statement read.

“FUFA appreciates all efforts and commitment by Mr. Milutin during his period as Head coach of Uganda Cranes.”

Uganda will start their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers away against Guinea in November, but it is unclear who be in charge as new head coach.
