‘The Yellow Nation Really Pushed Us’

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena was proud of his team and the supporters after their 1-0 win over Al Ahly in the African Football League semi-final first leg, but said it is only half-time in the tie.

Thapelo Maseko scored a great goal at Loftus on Sunday afternoon and it gives Sundowns the edge going into the second leg.

But Mokwena said there is still another 90 minutes to play, but he was proud of his team’s performance, and paid tribute to the fans.

“Half-time, the message remains the same,” Mokwena said on SABCSport after the game.

“We would have said it’s half-time at 0-0. We would have said it’s half-time regardless of what the score line is.

“But we are very proud of the players. Very proud of the Yellow Nation, the supporters for coming out in their numbers, to push the team and to support the team.

“They really, really pushed us in the second half and very grateful to the Masandawana family to the Yellow Nation for their support. And now we go again.”
