Al Ahly assistant coach Samy Komsan has praised Pitso Mosimane for bringing Percy Tau to Egypt, and revealed the South African had some worries after his the coach left the club.
Tau, 29, was one of the standout performers in Al Ahly’s CAF Champions League campaign, helping the record champions to their 11th title.
With five goals and five assists, no player was involved in more goals in Africa’s elite club competition, as Tau finally shook off his injury struggles this campaign.
Some thought Tau would have a tough time after Mosimane’s departure in 2022, but he has definitely stepped up, with Kosman full of praise for the South African winger.
“Pitso Mosimane chose Percy Tau well,” he said, as per Kingfut.
“Tau felt that after Mosimane’s departure that the treatment towards him would change.
“However, it became clear that the opposite was true, and everyone treats him well and appreciates him to give his best, and this has recently become evident.”
Tau joined Al Ahly from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2021 and has since made 64 appearances, scoring 16 goals and assisting 11 more.
Overall, Tau has now won five trophies with Al Ahly, two Egyptian Super Cups, one Egyptian Cup, one CAF Super Cup and one CAF Champions League.
