Al Ahly have confirmed the appointment of Ricardo Soares as head coach to succeed Pitso Mosimane at the Egyptian giants.
Mosimane left the club abruptly earlier this month after 20 months in charge where he led Ahly to three consecutive CAF Champions League finals, winning two while scooping five trophies and two bronze medals at the FIFA Club World Cup.

They’ve now turned to Europe after his successful tenure by luring one of the most highly-rated upcoming Portuguese coaches, who led minnows Gil Vicente to the UEFA Conference League last season.
While his lack of silverware has been a big topic of discussion amongst the club’s supporters in Egypt, the Ahly board have placed their faith in their next coach with a two-year contract.
The 47-year-old arrived in Cairo on Wednesday ahead of penning his contract while it’s now been confirmed that Sayed Abdel Hafeez will continue as the Sporting Director and Samy Komsan as the local assistant coach.
Mauricio Fache will be his first assistant, Raul Faria, the Performance Analyst, Pedro Guimaraes, Sports Psychologist and Eduardo Lobo as the Goalkeeper Coach – who all worked with him at his previous club in the Portuguese top-flight last season.
