Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has sent his well wishes to the SA U17 side in their bid to qualify for the U17 FIFA World Cup when they take on Burkina Faso later today.
Amajimbos find themselves in a good position to qualify for the World Cup after winning the opening match 4-3 against Egypt before playing to a 0-0 draw with Cameroon to have four points in the group needing only one point to book a place into the next round.
Broos sent a warm message to the stars of tomorrow stating that this could be a good year for the South African football after Bafana qualified for the AFCON and Amajita also qualified for the AFCON that will take place in Egypt at the end of this month.
“I want to wish best of success for your game of today, I know that you can qualify for the World Cup,” Broos said, as per SABC Sport.
“World Cup is the highest level, you play with the best teams in the world, and those teams and those games with help you to become a better player. It can be the first step to realizing your dream of becoming a professional player for a big team in South Africa and maybe later becoming a player for a big team in Europe. So, it is important, so I wish you all the best for that.
“You know also that 2025 can be a fantastic year for South African football starting with you today qualifying for the World Cup, the U20 will be at the AFCON at the end of this month, and we as Bafana Bafana already qualified for the AFCON in December but we still in the running for World Cup 2026.
“Imagine guys if you qualify for World Cup today it will be a motivation for us in September/October when we have to play our last qualifiers, so I wish you all the best.
“Be confident, believe in yourself, and listen to the coach. We do not need to have the best player in the match today, the only thing we need is the best team in the match today so all the best.
“I cross my fingers that you can succeed. Go for it, guys!
