Davids Previews Kariakoo Derby Vs Rivals Yanga

Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids described this weekend’s Kariakoo Derby clash against fiercest rivals Young Africans SC as a six-pointer but not a league decider.

The Reds of Msimbazi have started the season very well after winning four of their first five matches and occupying the second place. Yanga on the other hand are still playing catch-up with a game in hand and are in fifth place having scored eight goals and are yet to concede in the league this term.

This weekend, Tanzania’s biggest rivals face off in the NBC Premier League at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium with the sides separated by just one point.

Davids described this derby as a six-pointer but also emphasized that it was too early to call it a league decider with so many games still to play.

“It’s an important match because both teams a vying for that top spot,” Davids told the gathered media.

“Of course, we always talk about these matches like a six-pointer.

“It’s a match that will be significant in terms of the league race but it won’t decide the league race.

“There are still so many matches after this one, but we know how important is this match,” Davids added.

The match will commence at 16:00 on Saturday, 19 October.
