FIFA Confirm Huge Decision on Zimbabwe and Kenya

World football governing body FIFA have suspended Kenya and Zimbabwe with immediate effect, president Gianni Infantino confirmed on Thursday evening.

After several warnings over the past months, the two Football Associations have officially been hit with bans at today’s council meeting.

“Without prejudice to any investigations by national authorities or other judicial bodies, the FIFA Council also decided to suspend the Football Kenya Federation and the Zimbabwe Football Association with immediate effect due to undue interference by a third party,” read a statement released by FIFA after the meeting in Zurich.

Both federations have been embroiled in corruption allegations while ZIFA were also said to have been accused of sexual harassment cases of female officials.

“They know what needs to be done for them to be readmitted or for their suspensions to be lifted,” Infantino said when confirming the news on Thursday.

The government interference in the running of the respective federations due to what has been due to the alleged incompetent leadership has been the tipping point for FIFA to make their decision.

Both were placed with caretaker committees in recent months which has led to the decision to the disbandment of the countries from all football-related activities until further notice.
