Former AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin has guided Maghreb Association Sportive de Fès to a historic first Botola Pro league title in 41 years.

Franco, 46, took over at MAS in the beginning of the season and has lead them to a sensational league title, upsetting favoured RS Berkane, AS FAR and Raja CA.

MAS were going into the final of the campaign atop of the log and collected a 2-0 win over Olympique Dcheira to secure their first Botola title since 1985.

It was a highly-competitive title race, with the leaders changing literally every other week.

In the end Franco’s men secured the title with 59 points after securing their 16th win of the campaign, while also collecting 11 draws and just three defeats.

Berkane finished second with 57 points, Raja CA – now coached by Nasreddine Nabi – ended in third on 56 points, with all three winning their final games.

AS FAR who drew 0-0 with Renaissance Zemamra and dropped from second into fourth place thus missing out on CAF interclub football.

MAS and Berkane will represent Morocco in next season’s CAF Champions League, while Raja will play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
