Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Nyasha Mushekwi has continued his rich vein of form in front of goal after scoring twice in China League One outfit Yunnan Yukun FC’s 4-0 thumping over Wuxi Wugou on Sunday.
The 37-year-old veteran forward scored in the 35th and 64th minutes to take his tally for the season to 16 league goals with a single assist in 20 matches since joining Yukun from Chinese Super League side Zhejiang FC in February 2024.
Yukun lead the log standings with 50 points from 21 matches having drawn five and losing just once all season. They have a seven-point lead over second-placed Dalian Yingbo.
Mushekwi is also the top goalscorer in the Chinese League One with 18 goals across all competitions with two assists while Suzhou Dongwu’s Naldinho sits in second with 12 goals and six assists.
Even though he is out of the picture at national team level, he has been capped 17 times by Zimbabwe scoring six goals.
