Former Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin Sredojević has been relieved of his duties as coach of the Libyan national team.
The much travelled ‘Micho’ is said to have been shown the exit door just weeks to Libya’s 2025 AFCON double-header against Nigeria.
The 55-year-old Serbian tactician took over the Libyan hotseat from Salim Al-Jalali who had been serving as Libya’s interim head coach in October 2023.
Despite his time with the Libyan national team coming to an end, Micho went unbeaten in his first eight games, winning six, with 95% of his squad being local players. Before his arrival, Libya had won just eight games in four years.
But the Mediterranean Knights have had a disastrous start to the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, losing 2-1 to Benin before being held to a 1-1 draw by Rwanda. They currently occupy bottom spot in Group D with just one point in their opening two games.
Sredojević is reportedly already set for his next gig as he will form part of the Al Ahli Tripoli team that will be flying to face Simba SC in the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary second leg on Sunday in Dar es Salaam.
The former Uganda national team coach has managed several clubs in Africa in the likes of SC Villa, Sudan’s Al Hilal, Tanzania’s Yanga Africans, Saint George of Ethiopia, the Rwanda national team, Yugoslavia U20 head coach, two stints at Orlando Pirates of South Africa, Egyptian side Zamalek, Zambia national team, and the Ugandan Cranes among others.
