Orlando Pirates and Malawi striker Gabadinho Mhango says it’s time the team stand together to make their native country proud ahead of the round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Buccaneers star was recently named in the FIFA22 team of the week after his fine performances as he scored a brace for the Flames in their 2-1 win over Zimbabwe.
Mhango, though looks ready to add goals to his tally, but he says he prefers to focus on the team now, insisting they are ready and prepared to upset North African giants Morocco on Tuesday.
iDiski Times journalist, Lethabo Kganyago got in contact with the Malawian camp to get Mhango’s thoughts ahead of the match.
“I think it’s a great feeling for everyone as a team and for the supporters as well in Malawi, everyone is happy with us to be in the round of 16,” Mhango told iDiski Times.
“I think this is a time that I think we need to stand as a team, to be united and the way the game is going now, we meet the big guns, with the big boys.
“So now we need just to stand together to fight and then for me as well, I think we do as a team together.
“Ja, I think to be part of the team it’s a great feeling, to take part of this national team.
“I think it’s a great moment for me and for the team as well, and we’re expecting, more things to come from me as well.”
The Flames are set to play Morocco on Tuesday in the last 16 of the Africa’s elite tournament at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium at 21:00.
