Shonga On Fire In Major Career Revival

Former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City striker Justin Shonga is enjoying an incredible career revival in the Zambia Super League with Nkwazi FC.

Shonga, 26, returned to his homeland after a failed move to Botola Pro side Mas Fes which iDiski Times reported on earlier this season.

This after a rather nomadic period of his career that appeared on a downward spiral after leaving the Buccaneers in October 2020 for Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

At the time, he’d netted 16 goals and registered as many assists in 77 games for Pirates and looked destined for bigger things but since the TTM move he club-hopped from Cape Town City to Ismaily in Egypt to Sekhukhune United, and not really finding consistency.

But after the move back to his homeland, Shonga has been a man reborn, with four goals in his last six games taking his overall tally to 10 for the season.

Added to his seven assists, the Zambia international striker has directly contributed to 17 goals for his side in 20 appearances, which is a career-high in a single season for Shonga.
