News coming in from Zimbabwe is that the board of the Zimbabwean Football Association (ZIFA) has been suspended.
This is following Zimbabwe’s disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign, where they failed to win any of their six matches.
However this was just one of many reasons for the suspension of the board, including financial irregularities and failing to adhere to Covid-19 protocols.
The news was confirmed by the Sports and Recreation Commission of Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe have less than two months to prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon, and ZIFA had appointed Norman Mapeza in a caretaker role, replacing Zdravko Logarusic after two games of the WCQ campaign.
They already suffered a major blow after Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat announced his retirement from international football just two months ahead of the AFCON.
