Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has confirmed defender Nkosinathi Sibisi will captain the national team in their upcoming games against Tanzania and Mozambique.
Sibisi, 29, has enjoyed a standout campaign for Orlando Pirates and has retained his place in the national team, having been a mainstay since Broos’ arrival.
He slotted alongside Siyabonga Ngezana in the wins over Lesotho and Benin in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the previous international break in the absence of injured Rushwin Dortley and Mothobi Mvala.
“It’s a little bit of a search but I think with Sibisi we have a good captain, he’s an experience player with Bafana Bafana since I am here, from the first day I am here he been with us,” Broos said.
“He’s experienced as an older player, he has a guy who has the respect from everybody, so he’s good one to replace Ronwen.”
South Africa host Tanzania on Friday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium and Mozambique at the same venue four days later.
