Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has insisted he will resign next week Tuesday if his side won’t qualify for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Belgian tactician has done well in restoring faith in Bafana after guiding the national team to their first medal since 2003 after claiming the bronze at the last AFCON.
Bafana would qualify for back-to-back AFCONs with another win from their last two qualifiers in Uganda and at home against South Sudan.
Broos expressed his confidence in his squad, and insisted it would be a shame if they wouldn’t finish the job after collecting eight points from their first four games.
“It would be a little shame if we don’t qualify for AFCON,” he told reporters on Monday.
“Honestly, we have the quality, we are bronze medalists. Can you imagine that the bronze medal of nine months ago can’t even qualify for the next AFCON?
“So, I’m not thinking about that because again, my confidence is big in this team, but we can’t. We can’t accept if we shouldn’t be qualified for AFCON.”
When asked what would happen in case Bafana would lose both games during the upcoming international break, Broos was clear that he wouldn’t be prepared to continue.
“If we’d lose both games, five minutes after the game I’m on the flight to Belgium. You can be sure of it,” he continued.

“If we can’t win, okay Uganda [away is tough], but at home against South Sudan, I tell you I’ll immediately take a flight, and you’ll never see me again.”
Bafana take on Uganda away from home on 15 November before hosting South Sudan at DHL Stadium in Cape Town on 19 November.
