Namibia Coach Surprised By Bafana

Namibian coach Collin Benjamin says he is surprised that Bafana Bafana are not one of the more successful African nations.

Benjamin was speaking after his team’s goalless draw against Bafana on Saturday.

Namibia, are still in contention to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations finals, and will be hoping Cameroon beat Burundi next week.

Benjamin, who had high praise for Hugo Broos’ team, was asked if he was surprised that a team like Bafana aren’t regular semi-finalists at Afcons.

“Of course, of course it surprises you,” responded Benjamin, who played Hamburger SV and 1860 Munich in the Bundesliga during his heyday.

“I have this feeling that you don’t really believe in your team? So ja, it is a surprise.

“I mean you guys are a huge country, the region looks up to you. Half of the region come play their games here. So it is a surprise.

“I just think you as a nation just have to support them, give the coach that time, give him the possibilities and it shall be good, shall be good.

“Rome was not built in that one day, huh? I mean we know.”
