Banyana Star Lands New Club Abroad

Banyana Banyana star Jermaine Seoposenwe has joined Mexican giants CF Monterrey after leaving FC Juarez.

Seoposenwe, 29, is one of the key players in the squad of Desiree Ellis and featured for Juarez this past season.

However, on Thursday she confirmed that she is starting a new Mexican adventure at two-time Liga MX Femenil champions, Rayadas de Monterrey, where she penned a two-year deal.

“Incredibly proud to announce that I’ll be joining Monterrey,” she stated.

“I want to thank the club for the opportunity, and I cannot wait to start this new journey with you. I hope it’s filled with lots of success.

“Taking my talents to Monterrey! Excited for the opportunity and hope the new journey is filled with success.”

Seoposenwe, who scored the fastest goal in the history of the BBVA MX Women’s League, scoring after just eight seconds against Necaxa on matchday 14 of the previous campaign, also sent a farewell message to her previous club.

“And just like that another journey comes to an end! Today I bid farewell to Juarez. I want to thank the club for the opportunity, and wish them and their fans everything of the best for the future. Gracias a todas,” she wrote.

Monterrey become Seoposenwe’s fifth team after Gintra Universitetas (Lithuania), Real Betis (Spain), Braga (Portugal) and Juarez (Mexico), while starting her career at Samford University in the United States.

The move comes just weeks ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
