Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has revealed how he plans to improve the side saying it all starts with how good they train.
Cardoso was announced as Manqoba Mngqithi’s successor after the latter was shown the exit door following unsatisfactory performances and results.

Sundowns are looking to secure the Betway Premiership title for a record eighth time and challenge for the CAF Champions League having stumbled at the semi-final stage for the last two successive seasons.
Cardoso said it’s important for him that his players and staff understand that training good makes them better while he wants an ambitious attitude from them and team spirit. And all of these the coach knows are things that need practice more than words and it’s something some of the best teams in the world are doing as well.
“Because not today you train good, it’s because every day you make the best in order to train good and like that, you become better,” said the former Esperance de Tunis coach.
“So, this is the spirit we need to have. This is the spirit I believe on, and this is what I want for me and for myself and for my players. I really leave a strong message for them; we need to be ambitious. But ambitious is not something you say, is something you show, is an attitude, and no one destroys, no one gives an attitude, no one, it is impossible.

“That’s how also I see the biggest teams in the world to win by developing a strong attitude collectively. That comes from the heart and the mind of each of the person. So, we need to conquer the person, the people themselves, and after we’ll conquer the players for sure because I believe they will believe in us. I believe we’re going to put something going on that will give them pleasure, and players will follow the leader if they also feel pleasure in what they do.
“That’s what I want from my players. That’s what I want from all the staff around us. The spirit that I heard from the first moment I started speaking with Sundowns that I felt when I was on the other side.”
