Magesi head coach Owen da Gama has credited their incredible turnaround in form to team work and a collective effort amongst the players and technical team.
Da Gama took over the club as Carling Knockout Champions from Clinton Larsen, who won the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season but dead last in the league on the standings.
They appeared to be favourites for the drop alongside Royal AM, before it was confirmed the KwaZulu Natal based outfit would be expelled from the league, but da Gama has managed to turn the tide with five succssive wins at Seshego Stadium.
“There’s so many top coaches in the PSL, so it’s really an honour, I’m really happy and excited [to have won coach of the month] but at the end of the day, it’s something I share with all the coaches, I’m not coach of the month alone.”
Magesi are now 11th in the league, only two points off Kaizer Chiefs who are in eighth place; “We might not have the best or experienced players, but we play as a team and it’s helped us – we can improve obviously.
“But we cover for each other, work for each other, support each other, it’s a collective effort on and off the field, that’s how you take a losing team and win, you bring them together as a unit.”
