Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says he is remaining calm regarding the title race despite dropping points against Cape Town City in the Mother City.
Pirates missed an opportunity to move to the top of the table on Wednesday night when they lost to City by 1-0, courtesy of Darwin Gonzalez’s 74th-minute goal.
It was only Pirates’ second league defeat this season, with both losses coming against Western Cape sides. The defeat left the Buccaneers three points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with both having played 11 games.
Riveiro insisted there is no drama, with only 11 games played and still a lot of points to play for.
“Imagine if I say ‘no, it’s fine’. I mean, what do you want me to say? I just said already, it’s a disappointing result,” Riveiro replied when asked whether the defeat was a setback.
“We came here with the intention of collecting three points. We perform in order to collect those three points. I think we create a huge difference between one team and the other tonight, but it’s 1-0.
“This is a scoring game, it’s not a possession game or chances game. The only thing that matters is the goal. They scored one, we didn’t.
“It’s three points that we cannot get anymore, but we can get the next ones. Now we have to put our minds in the Champions League game and then prepare the next three points.

“This is the game number today which 10, 11? Imagine we are on January, 11 games played. Did you count the amount of points still to play and to fight? So, there’s no drama. It’s three points [lost], and we go to the next one.”
