Makhubedu Praises Chiefs Ahead Of DStv Prem Clash

Sekhukhune United coach MacDonald Makhubedu has praised Kaizer Chiefs’ recent improvement in form ahead of his side’s clash with Amakhosi.

‘Babina Noko’s first season in top-flight football hasn’t surprised many and the Gauteng-based side are now fighting for a top-8 finish.

However, after picking up just one league win in 2022, Sekhkukhune would need to win both of their final games and hope for other results to go their way in order to still sneak into the top-8.

Makhubedu explained his side will give everything in their final two games, but he also praised Chiefs for their recent improvement in form.

“It will be a good game. For the fact that we are at home, it gives us an advantage. We have been doing well, unfortunately we haven’t been scoring goals but we’ve been playing well,” he told the club’s media team.

“We miss lots of chances but I think we will convert some of them this week and we are ready for this game. It will be a good game. But we are not going to let our supporters down, we want to do well in this game.

“Chiefs also are in good form, they’ve been unlucky in some of their games. Even last week, they played well, especially the last 15-20 minutes against a good Sundowns.

“I think it will be a good game of two good teams, but we need points. We need also to win this game and maybe get a chance [to go] into the top eight but we won’t disappoint our supporters at home and we’ve got everyone available in our squad, that gives us an edge also.”

Amakhosi beat Sekhukhune in the first leg in December but the game is still under review by the Premier Soccer League prosecutor after Amakhosi had two unregistered players on their bench.
