Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef is pleased to have a headache in selection in attack ahead of the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates on Sunday saying it’s better than not having any options at all.
Amakhosi head into the game on the back of a six-game unbeaten run, sitting in third position on the Betway Premiership log with 46 points having scored 28 goals so far.
They are the fourth highest goal scoring side in the league this season after Pirates [50], Mamelodi Sundowns [43] and Lamontville Golden Arrows [31].
Flavio Silva is the current top goal scorer for Chiefs with seven goals though he is six goals shy of the current leader in the league Junior Dion.
Silva is followed by Mduduzi Shabalala at the club with five goals, Glody Lilepo is third with four goals with Wandile Duba having three. Between the players they have scored 12 goals in the last six games.
Ben Youssef said it’s good to have every one of the attackers chipping in goals and selection is always about the team and not an individual.
“I think it’s a good headache that we have,” said Ben Youssef.
“Sometimes if you have good players and you have to choose it’s better than not having any player and you have to find solutions. I think it’s a good headache.
“I think as a team if you check how many goals we have scored, it was Shabalala, Lilepo, Silva, Duba all the players are performing very well. We are not the kind of team that’s depending on one or two players if they are not there the team would struggle.
“So, it’s more about the team, it’s not about the person we play.”
