Miguel Clears Up Shirt Number Confusion

New Kaizer Chiefs signing Inacio Miguel has cleared up the confusion surrounding his shirt number he was unveiled with.

The Angola international joined Chiefs from Petro de Luanda, with the number 83 shirt in the official unveiling, previously worn by Morgan Gould.

However, he’s now confirmed he in fact selected number 84, which will be his number this season, in honour of his late grandmother.

“I know people saw 83 on the jersey, it was a misunderstanding, I chose 84, as I told in the last interview, it was a testimony for my grandmother, that unfortunately she passed away last year at 84 years old,” Miguel said.

“She was the one who raised me and I decided to make this honour, to wear the 84 number because she will be with me all my life and yeah it’s basically a testimony for her.”

The 28-year-old went on to state the importance of making an impact at the club after his warm welcome and being marvelled by the standards since his arrival.

“The first day I arrived I made a tour of the village and of course, it’s a massive club, a huge club in the country, well recognised, I just have to adapt and perform as a professional, inside and outside of the club,” he added.

“I think the most important thing is to receive the love the fans give us and try to respond with the daily work, that’s the most important thing.”

Miguel will be aiming to make his debut for the club when they travel to Bloemfontien this weekend to face Marumo Gallants at the Toyota Stadium on Saturday (17h30).
