Msimango Impressed By New Chiefs Signing

Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango has been impressed by their new defensive signings into the team ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Msimango, 27, was one of the club’s key signings last season from TS Galaxy but has struggled to replicate his form of the Rockets as the club endured a tumultuous campaign with a record low 10th-placed finish.

Having conceded 30 goals in 30 games, and only scoring 25, Amakhosi management led by new head coach Nasreddine Nabi has lured four new defenders to the team, Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Inacio Miguel and Bradley Cross.

“The team is looking forward to the opening fixture on Saturday against Marumo Gallants, a well-coached team by coach Dan [Malesela], we all know the playing style of coach Dan, so it will be a very entertaining game,” he said.

“Of course, the team has made a lot of signings, but the team felt they needed to strengthen the defensive line, and they have acquired four quality players, Bongani, Cross, Miguel and Dortley. All quality players will add value to the team.

“They are gelling well together, they are all doing well. So the team is doing well and we’re happy to have them.”

When probed on what the signing from Petro de Luanda brings to the team, having now trained and played a couple of friendlies alongside, Msimango stated he can see why he was lured to the club from Angola.

“Miguel is a quality player, I’ve played a few friendlies with him, and I see what the club saw in him, they brought him in [for his] good technical quality, he’s a leader as well, so he’s definitely going to add something to the team and improve the team.”
