New AmaZulu FC signing Sandile Mthethwa says his decision to join the club was influenced by several factors like being close to home and that Usuthu wanted him.
The centre-back was announced as new additions alongside Bongani Zungu at the KwaZulu-Natal-based side this week with Mthethwa having been with Orlando Pirates since 2016, albeit being loaned out during his stay.

The 27-year-old opened up to reporters that he asked to be released so he can get game time elsewhere.
He further added that he believes this is one of the best decisions he has made and that he wants to give more than he did at the Buccaneers.
“I think the most important thing that played a part is that the club wanted me and also as you are saying it’s KZN-based [team],” said Mthethwa.
“It’s close, it’s two hours away from home. This is my new home and I think what I did at Pirates is something that I start doing at AmaZulu because they are the club that were willing to give me an opportunity and who believed in me.

“I can be the best more than what I thought I was and by that I really appreciate the President and not leaving out the coaches. I think for me it’s not a bad decision that I took.
“It’s one of the decision that going forward I’ll say I think I made a good decision to come to AmaZulu.”
