AmaZulu FC defender Sandile Mthethwa has explained why he considers this one of the greatest seasons of his career.
Mthethwa has been a cornerstone of Arthur Zwane’s defensive line, making 31 appearances across all competitions, while contributing one goal and one assist.
This campaign marks the highest number of games he has played in a single season, a stark contrast to his time at Orlando Pirates, where he struggled for regular game time.
Mthethwa expressed his gratitude to the club for the opportunity to play for the KZN side and for the consistent minutes—something he was not accustomed to in previous campaigns.
“Personally, I think for me this is one of my greatest seasons. Coming from two seasons where I’ve not been playing,” said Mthethwa.
“I think I just appreciate the opportunity from the chairman and the technical team for trusting me.
“I think I’ve achieved playing almost 20 plus games for me this season. I think the last time I played was my previous club I went to on loan. I think I’ve achieved a lot, and I think I’m still learning.
“I still want to learn with the club and also put the club in a better position. I think we had a chance to achieve an opportunity to go to Africa, but we couldn’t.
“I think next season is one of the goals because we did put a standard that we were able to challenge for that. So, I think going to next season is what we’re looking for.”
