Nabi – The New Signings Were Good… But

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has opened up on their three January signings earning starts in their 2-2 draw against AmaZulu on Tuesday evening.

Nabi admits they were impressive with Lilepo and Morris at the thick of things, forcing own goals, while Cele was solid but unspectacular in his deep-lying-midfield role.

The Tunisian mentor believes there’s much more to come from all three once they have more training sessions with the rest of the squad and get to grips with the pace of the game and tactical understanding.

“We felt that they were good,” he said after the match.

“Tashreeq and Lilepo, they were involved in the two goals that we had. About Thabo Cele, we also believe he is a good player.

“It’s only that they have done maybe three or four training sessions. With matches every three to four days, we haven’t really had time to work on the specificities of how they play, or to understand their partners, or be understood by there partners.

“And we believe that with more time, when we a whole to train, we’re gonna have more time to work on the patterns of play, the understanding of the players.

“But we believe they are good signings. I’ve felt that Tashreeq Morris for the 80 minutes that he played was a constant threat for the opponent’s defence.

“And today we are unfortunate to not score more goals and get the three points.”
