Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed he tried to uplift his players during an extended team talk in the dressing room after their defeat against Marumo Gallants.
Amakhosi dropped out of the top eight after losing 2-1 to Gallants, who came from behind to stun the home side at FNB Stadium.
After the match, several Chiefs looked shocked and disappointed as the Glamour Boys are now six league games without a win.
Nabi, who let journalists wait slightly longer than usual for his post-match presser, insisted there is no time to sulk on the past, as they need to refresh and prepare for the two upcoming Soweto Derbies against rivals Orlando Pirates.
“My apologies for the delay of the press conference,” he said when asked by iDiski Times.
“It’s true that we had a talk with the players, because after such a difficult position we are in after today’s game, you see that everybody is down and there is a lack of confidence.
“Sometimes you feel like some are giving up. So what I told is that there is no time to blame anyone or each other or trying to regret what happened because the result like today cannot come back.
“We have two very important games ahead of use that can still save our season. The derby is coming next weekend and there is the final of Nedbank…
“Everyone needs to assess himself with honesty and look at how he does in training and during games, and then we need to stick together and go into this coming week of preparation with our heads up.”
