The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee have confirmed Kaizer Chiefs have been charged for their latest issue of crowd violence.
Amakhosi were been slapped with a R200,000 fine with R50,000 suspended over six months on condition of not being found guilty of the same offence.
The behaviour at the Calabash this weekend was a third offence after the earlier events that transpired at Mbombela Stadium and Peter Mokaba as supporters aimed projectiles at head coach Molefi Ntseki.
Chiefs Marketing and Commerical Director Jessica Motaung previously condemned the actions and called for more unity and patience amongst the fan base over the frustrating events – with the club being fined previously and directly addressing fans to avoid a repeat.
However, the PSL DC has now handed down their verdict via advocate Zola Majavu on Monday afternoon as the same offence has now been broken once more.
“This [Monday] afternoon, I preferred charges of spectator misbehaviour and unruly conduct Kaizer Chiefs Football Club as a sequel to what transpired in their recent match against AmaZulu this past Saturday,”
“They will be appearing before the PSL DC on 31 October 2023 at 11:30AM. Until then as per usual there will be no running commentary on the matter and I will formerly announce the outcome once the PSL DC has pronounced itself on the matter.”
Majavu had previously indicated that another set of crowd trouble would be punished with a stadium lockout, with Chiefs’ next two home games against Cape Town Spurs on 8 November and Orlando Pirates on 11 November potentially under threat.
