Kaizer Chiefs have revealed the shirt numbers of their new signings, with Ranga Chivaviro receiving the famous Nr.7 shirt.
Chivaviro, 30, signed for Amakhosi on a two-year deal with an option to extend for a further one year after joining from Marumo Gallants.
The towering striker has received the Nr.7 shirt, previously worn by the likes of Katlego Mphela (2014/15) and Kaizer Motaung Jr. (2006/07 to 2013/14). The last player to have worn the Nr.7 shirt was Lazarous Kambole between 2019/20 and 2021/22.
Meanwhile, Mduduzi Mdantsane was unveiled as the club’s new Nr.3, taking over from Eric Mathoho, who was wearing it 2012/13 and 2022/23 until he was recently released by the club.
Pule Mmodi will wear the Nr.13 shirt, which was worn by the likes of Lucky Baloyi (2015/16) and Keegan Ritchie (2011/12 to 2013/14). Another former Chiefs player, who wore the Nr.13 shirt is iDiskiTV analyst Junior Khanye.
Botswana international defender, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe was given the Nr.24 shirt, which was worn by Phathutshedzo Nange last season. Tsepo Masilela (2012/13 to 2017/18) and David Mathebula (2007/08 to 2009/10) were other famous players who’ve worn Ditlhokwe’s new number.
Finally, Given Msimango will wear the Nr.25 shirt, last worn by Bernard Parker, who donned it between 2011/12 and 2021/22.
Chiefs have also signed Venezuelan international Edson Daniel Castillo Garcia from Monagas SC, penning a two-year deal with an option for a further one year, but the club hasn’t yet revealed his new number. The South American midfielder is expected to arrive in South Africa this week.
