Sundowns Part Ways With Saavedra

Mamelodi Sundowns have parted ways with Erwin Saavedra which opened the foreign quota spot to register their latest signing Lucas Suarez.

Suarez, 29, arrived last week and had his first training sessions this week alongside returning loanee Matias Esquivel who were teammates in Argentina at Club Atletico Tallares over the past six months.

The Argentine duo, Marcelo Allende, Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Artur Sales are now the five registered foreigners for Masandawana for the remainder of the season, with Saavedra now set to return home to Bolivia.

Club Bolivar is likely to be the next destination, the club he was signed from and spent some time on loan with as he looked to overcome his injury-ravaged time at Sundowns which prevented him from having a chance to establish himself in the first team.

Saavedra joins the likes of Lesiba Nku, Lebo Maboe, Thembinkosi Lorch to have left Sundowns in the mid-season window, with the latter two leaving on loan to SuperSport United and Wydad Athletic Club respectively.
