Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the untimely passing of midfielder Jayden Adams.
Adams, 25, was with Bafana at the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup where Hugo Broos’ men wrote history and became the first ever SA men’s national side to reach the knockout stages.

The midfielder made three appearances at the tournament, but suffered the heartbreak of his grandmother passing away a day before match against Czechia. Upon his return, Adams spent time in Stellenbosch before he was expected to resume pre-season with Sundowns.
However, after news broke earlier on Saturday, Sundowns have now confirmed the shock news.
“It is with heartfelt sorrow that Mamelodi Sundowns can confirm the passing of highly talented Bafana Bafana midfielder, Jayden Adams.
“The Chairman and the Motsepe Family, the Board of Directors, Technical Team, Players, Management, Staff, Supporters of Mamelodi Sundowns FC & the entire Yellow Nation express their deepest condolences to the family and friends as we mourn the loss of Jayden.
“We pray that the Almighty God comforts and strengthens the Adams family, his friends and everyone that knew him. Sundowns respectfully ask that the family’s privacy be honoured as they grieve this profound loss.”
