Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Surprise Ralani was humbled by the praise of Rulani Mokwena and revealed what makes him stand out from the rest.
Mokwena recently stated in an interview that Ralani is one of the most talented players he’s ever coached in his career.
While he was released in the off-season and since signed for Cape Town Spurs, the veteran winger had nothing but glowing praise for the 36-year-old tactician.
“I saw that, I think it was a radio interview when he spoke so highly of me and I also hold him in high regard as a coach as well because of the work he’s done at Mamelod Sundowns,” Ralani told Goal.
“His hard work is really showing now, I mean they won the AFL and they win the title every season, they have a lot of trophies with that also.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen a coach that passionate about football, really, really passionate about football, sleepless nights, attention to detail to the tee.
“He can only bear the fruits of winning the AFL, leagues, and all the other cups because of the way he works – I’m not saying this because of what he said about me, I’m saying it – and being honest, he’s a football freak, he doesn’t sleep.
“How’s it possible for someone like that not to win and we can only expect more from him because at the age he’s at, head coach of a club at Mamelodi Sundowns. I don’t think he has a life outside football, that’s how passionate he is.
“He’s on your back for simple things, you miss a pass, you miss a touch, he never lets it slide because Suprise is technically gifted, he lets nothing slide, that’s the difference between him and other coaches.”
