Percy Tau has explained the big differences between Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns, while also insisting the Egyptian Premier League is also much stronger than the PSL.
The Bafana Bafana winger gave his first lengthy interview with Al Ahly TV and spoke about a host of topics.
Tau has settled well at the Club of the Century, scoring five goals in his his first six games, which have helped the Egyptian to a perfect start in the league.
He was asked about the differences between Ahly and his former club Sundowns, pointing to his current side’s history and performance in CAF competitions.
“I think there is a big difference between Al Ahly and Sundowns, at least in history and the players,” he told Al Ahly TV.
“Here Al Ahly is competing for the Super Cup and the African Champions League.”
Tau also stated there are religious differences between Egypt and South Africa before pointing out that the difference in the level of domestic football.
“There are (also) some points related to religion at Al Ahly and there are problems in South Africa related to religious matters and commitment.
“In addition, the level of the league, there is also a big difference.”
Al Ahly and the Egyptian Premier League are currently on a break due to the FIFA Arab Cup but will return to action on 26 December.
