Tso & Junior Predict Soweto Derby Outcome

IDiski TV analysts Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi and Junior Khanye have given contrasting predictions for the Betway Premiership Soweto derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs at the sold out FNB Stadium on Sunday.

The Soweto giants meet for the second time in two months in the league, with a lot at stake for both sides.

In the first derby Pirates were 3-0 winners and Chiefs have since picked up form, going unbeaten in six straight league outings to sit in third place on the table with 46 points. Amakhosi are looking to not only pull one back but also to cement their third place target.

For log-leading Pirates, they need a win to stay in the title race, involving Mamelodi Sundowns who are sandwiched between the Soweto sides on the log with a game in hand and just a point behind. The former Pirates captain predicated a conditional 2-1 win for the Buccaneers.

“This time around we mean business we want to win this league and to do that we need to beat them,” said Tso on iDiski TV.

“Beating Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday and take my word, we are going all the way. I think it’s going to be 2-1 favouring Orlando Pirates.

“The reason why I’m giving Chiefs one [goal] is because if [Glody] Lilepo can come in that position [striker] then they’ll get one but if he’s not going to be there then it’s two clean [2-0].”

Meanwhile former Chiefs winger said it’s a tough game to call with how things have unfolded for both sides since the first meeting. Khanye believes his former side will want to avoid a repeat of the first round, saying the game will likely end in a stalemate.

“I don’t think Chiefs will want to be embarrassed again after being beaten in the first round of the season” said Khanye.

“A very difficult game, it’s not easy to predict. I think Kaizer Chiefs will go for a draw. They will not want to be embarrassed honestly, they’ll have that thing to say we’d rather not concede. It’s not going to be as simple as it was in the first round though.

“This is a tricky fixture, Orlando Pirates need points by all means whether Chiefs stays at the back or comes at them they have to find a way because if they drop points it’s over.

“I aslo believe it will be over.”
