Vilakazi Lands New Role At PSL Club

Vusumuzi Vilakazi has quickly found a new home as he has been appointed as the senior coach of Richards Bay FC.

Kanu, as Vilakazi is known in football, resigned as the technical director of Chippa United on Friday, with Chippa saying in the statement that he was taking a post elsewhere.

It was not long ago that Vikalazi was appointed by Chippa as a TD, after leaving Golden Arrows early in September, where he was working as co-coach with Mabhuti Khenyeza.

Vilakazi was in the stands when Richards Bay crucially beat Cape Town Spurs in what was a six-pointer at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday, leaving the club’s chairman Sifiso Biyela smiling and also players singing in the dressing room afterwards.

Kanu has been wanted by Bay for some time and Biyela was keen on him, even when he left Arrows to join Chippa.

At Bay, Vilakazi will be the senior coach of Kaitano Tembo, who was appointed at the beginning of the season.

Sboniso Gumede, who was Tembo’s assistant, will drop down a level to the DStv Diski Challenge to work with Sibusiso Msomi, which was his position in the first place.

Bay, having defeated Spurs, are now on nine points after 12 matches and six ahead of bottom side Spurs.

The Natal Rich Boyz will hope Kanu’s arrival will inspire them in their next match when they visit Orlando Pirates on 25 November after the international break at Orlando Stadium. They are yet to win two games on the bounce in this calendar year.
