Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are dominating the CAF Women’s Champions League Best XI after winning their second continental trophy in three years.
Jerry Tshabalala’s side beat Sporting Casablanca 3-0 in the final to finish this year’s competition without conceding a single goal, while scoring 10 goals themselves.
They finished the group stages with three wins out three before beating last season’s champions ASFAR 1-0 in the semi-final – a sweet revenge for their 4-0 defeat in last year’s final.
After the tournament, Sundowns Ladies also had a clean sweep at the individual awards, with goalkeeper Andile Dlamini being named Goalkeeper of the Tournament following her five clean sheets.
Meanwhile, Refilwe Tholakele won the Golden Boot after scoring five times, and Boitumelo Rabale was named Player of the Tournament.
All three have also made it into the CAF Women’s Champions League Team of the Tournament or Best XI, where they were accompanied midfielder Chuene Morifi as well as defenders Lebohang Ramalepe as well as Zanele Nhlapho.
