AmaZulu FC and TS Galaxy have announced their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s Carling Knockout Cup second semifinal clash at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Usuthu have a chance to reach their second cup final since their in a space of two seasons. AmaZulu were involved in the MTN8 final in 2022, meanwhile, Galaxy won the Nedbank Cup in 2019 in the very same Moses Mabhida Stadium beating Kaizer Chiefs by 1-0
Usuthu has been lukewarm since the season started, in the DStv Premiership they sitting five points away playoffs zone. Despite the questioning form in the league they’ve done so well in Carling Knockout Cup, they knocked out Chiefs in the first round by 1-0 before eliminating their arch-rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows in the quarterfinal by 3-0.
Head coach Pablo Franco is in the hunt of his first final in South African soil. The KwaZulu Natal-based side remains the only side in the tournament. Going to the final would mean that they will have a bit of an advantage because they familiar with the venue.
The Rockets have had a tough route to this stage, eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns via penalties and went on to do it against Sekhukhune United also.
Galaxy have plenty of experienced players who have been in this stage before and they will hope that their experience will come in handy.
These two sides faced each other on seven occasions since their inception in the DStv Premiership. Usuthu won three, Galaxy won one and the other three ended with draws. They face each other for the first time in a cup game.
